Leila Chavez, an entrepreneur in the BioVentures Active program at UAMS, is rapidly disrupting the healthcare and education tech space. Her background as a history major (honors) with a minor in technical writing and her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy has given her a unique skillset: combining critical thinking, human-centered design, and clinical expertise. She also has 21 years in the pediatric field and 8 years in clinical practice emphasizing mental health and assistive technology, and experience as an adjunct professor at Baptist Health College Little Rock. She is a demonstrated changemaker having influenced Arkansas legislation to support individuals with hearing loss and is the primary author of the “Introductory Guide to Hearing Loss” for the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services. With early sales leadership at age 15 and a passion for creating scalable impact, she is developing apps for global healthcare systems, US schools/homes, and is launching an app with a projected growth of 20,000 users internationally per month. Leila seeks strategic investors and mentors to support her mission for equitable wellness access.
